The Perfect Proposal – Locked in Las Vegas

A surprise proposal in an escape room? Discover how one couple turned their Fluchtweg Hamburg game into a romantic, unforgettable moment!

When thinking about special and, above all, wild weddings, Las Vegas often comes to mind. Now there’s a place in Hamburg where you can make a romantic and simultaneously fun marriage proposal in a truly exciting piece of “Las Vegas”!

“ Hotel Old Vegas” is a themed room, furnished like an old hotel room in Las Vegas. Besides authentic atmosphere and plenty of excitement, guests can expect tricky puzzles, locked safes, and codes that need to be cracked, and much more. We’re talking about a so-called Live Escape Room. Locked in a themed room, players have 60 minutes to break out. Only the key to the exit door will help them, but where could it be? Hidden in a secret place? In the safe? In the locked chest? …and how do they get to it? Questions upon questions that can only be answered in our rooms with skill and understanding!

In summer 2015, something very special happened at Fluchtweg Hamburg – Diana and her friends wanted to play a Live Escape Game in St. Pauli. Unsuspecting, the fun began and Diana puzzled her way through with her friends from clue to clue until the crowning finale of the key to the exit door! But wait! That wasn’t all! Lovingly hidden, Diana found a ring! Sergej took this moment (just as planned 😉) as an opportunity for one of the most original marriage proposals we’ve ever seen!

6 months after the proposal, quite fittingly on Valentine’s Day, we met with Sergej & Diana again for a small interview! Of course, we were particularly interested in how such an experience feels!

Fluchtweg Team: How long have you been together? Sergej & Diana: Together for 3.5 years.

Fluchtweg Team: Sergej, how did you come up with the idea to make a marriage proposal in a Live Escape Room?
Sergej: I thought about how I could make an original proposal. Standard stuff was out of the question. I searched for proposal ideas for a long time.
I had heard about Live Escape before, but never anything specific. Then I stumbled upon Fluchtweg Hamburg by chance and immediately told you about my idea!

Fluchtweg Team: How did it all go, are you satisfied with the result?
Sergej: Yes! The best part was – everything worked out exactly as I had imagined. I was very nervous that day… and the days before. The game distracted me from this excitement and at the very end, it was super easy for me to make a proposal.

Fluchtweg Team: When’s the wedding? 😀
Sergej & Diana: We’re planning it within the next 2 years.

Fluchtweg Team: What do you say about the game concept? Did you like it and was it suitable for Sergej’s intentions?
Sergej & Diana: We can recommend the game to everyone. It was super exciting, funny, and it was incredibly fun to fight for survival with our friends. 🙂 When we had solved all the puzzles at the end and the door opened, an unforgettable feeling comes – you’ve achieved it together as a team! And hearing the word “Yes” at the end makes everything particularly complete and happy.

Of course, we were particularly keen that everything works perfectly, the surprise succeeds, the game is fun, and naturally that she says “yes” in the end!
